The Foundation Budget represents the spending level necessary to educate students in a particular Massachusetts school district. It was developed in 1993 and is out of date.  Most communities (including Arlington) spend considerably more than the foundation budget.  There is a proposed initiative underway to update the Foundation Budget and Chapter 70 funding to communities.
